Cook A Little Longer!

I went to Labor and Delivery on Wednesday, June 1st, because I was having some pain in my lower abdomen.  Turns out, I'm already one centimeter dilated!  Now, this worried me because it worried the midwife on duty at the hospital that night.  She put me on modified bed rest for the next two days and told me to follow up at the clinic.  After two days of epic boredom (though I had plenty of time to finish Book 6 of the Harry Potter series), I went to that appointment this morning.

Yup, still one centimeter.  That was actually good news since I don't really want to give birth quite this early.  More good news was that my regular doctor (who I was able to see this morning) checked everything and gave me leave to go back to work.  I'm still taking it easy because I don't really know what causes one to dilate, but it will be nice not to have to divide my time between the bed and the couch.

The bit of bittersweet news that my doctor gave me was that while it is possible to still go my remaining five weeks in this state, it is still possible to still go my remaining five weeks in this state--painful abdomen and all.  I'll be most satisfied to get to 37 weeks and be done.  That way, I'll still have time to change my name on my driver's license and spend some quality time with Mikey on our babymoon.

So yes, little alien, we anxiously await your arrival, but don't be so hasty...cook a little longer.
