Babymoon!!!

Mikey and I spent the King Kamehameha Day long weekend on a staycation babymoon.  We got a fairly good deal at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and stayed in the Ali'i Tower for three wonderful nights.  Well, actually, the days were a bit better given my current sleeping difficulties.  I got a pedicure and Mikey spent some time in the ocean.  We ate the (quite nice) buffet breakfast every morning.  We went to the pool together on a couple of occasions.  The worst part of that was getting out--I felt about ten times heavier than when I went in!  I also learned that pregnancy is not conducive to wearing pre-pregnancy swimwear.

A short review in photos...

One of the views from our room.

We could also look down and see the Super Pool.  I took this photo fairly early in the morning, so there were very few people in the pool, but by afternoon everyday, this place was packed!

Difficult to see unless you click on the picture, the Hilton Hawaiian Village is home to some penguins who apparently prefer the sun of paradise to the ice of their former habitat.

We received a gift card to Ruths Chris for our wedding and thought it appropriate to use it for a nice dinner on our babymoon.  The shrimp cocktail appetizer was not only delicious, it was fun to behold as well!

The bulk of our meal consisted of steak (I had filet mignon and Mikey had hanger), macaroni and cheese, and asparagus with hollandaise.  The food was so decadent.

We finished the meal with a light dessert of berries and custard.  One of my favorite desserts of all time, even if it did have a few too many blueberries for my taste.  Mikey was kind enough to eat most of them, though, allowing me to focus on the far more delicious blackberries and strawberries.

Overall, it was a lovely weekend.  We certainly do pay a heavy tax for living in paradise, but a benefit we get in return is a quick, weekend stay in Waikiki that does not involve a five-hour flight or years of savings.  Completely worth it.
