Bzzz....
We have so many cute clothes for Liam, but the little buggah keeps growing out of them! I suppose that's what kids do. So when we notice that a particular outfit is getting a bit too tight, we've started taking photos of him in it. Remember that bee outfit from Aunty Allison? Sadly, it went the way of the green box in the corner that swallows up too-small clothes, but not before we managed a photo shoot!
We took some long shots. Notice the bee blanket and how the onesie is attached with only one button.
We also got some close ups to show detail on the knit bee cap. Thankfully, that will last a bit longer!
Then Liam got a little bored and little tired.
"No more pictures, mama."
"Really, mama? Please! No more pictures!"
"Fine, take more. But the hat's coming off!"
One can't really blame a new mother for wanting to take a bazillion photos, right? I feel the urge to capture every cute little moment, not trusting my memory to last. But however camera shy (or camera weary) Liam may be, I still manage to capture smiles now and again...
You are so cute, buddy!

The Fever Series
Liam got his two-month vaccinations this past week and I must say, that experience is traumatic for baby and parents alike! I'm certain, from the epic screams and multi-colored face, that he did not like being poked three times in the legs with sharp objects, and in fact, the liquid fourth vaccination met with similar disapproval. Though it might sound a little mean, it was actually a little amusing to watch him take the liquid vaccination because he would quiet down enough for the nurse to get it in his mouth, and then once he realized it wasn't milk, little Liam expressed his displeasure. But the pokes were hard to watch. Part of me almost wishes I had chosen to bear hug him rather than Mikey, because then I wouldn't have had to watch his sad face.
Thankfully, he slept quite a bit after that, but then once nighttime rolled around, he succumbed to fever. (Why is it that these things happen at night?!) Being new parents, and this being his first fever, we were just south of panicky trying to figure out what to do. We gave him acetaminophen, but when it got to 100.3 degrees, we called the after hours clinic. The nurse reassured me that it was still okay, to continue the acetaminophen, and to keep him cool. Yeah, sure, okay.
Regardless of the reassurances, we were still worried, so we kept him home the following day to maintain our vigil. Part of our cool-down plan involved a cool washcloth on the head while he sat in his chair and the sight just made me itch to memorialize the moment in digital form.

For the most part, he looked kind of pathetic. He didn't feel well and it was obvious.
But he liked the cool washcloth, which became evident soon after we put it on him. Here he is imitating Ali Baba with his turban.
Soon enough he was getting distracted from the yucky feeling and I was enjoying taking photos of his many looks. He went from Ali Baba to a 1930's Newsboy in a cabbie hat.
We even got him to smile!
Perhaps he just likes hats. What with the mirror thing and now the hat thing, I'm beginning to think he might be a fashionista in the making. That's okay buddy...you can be a designer too, if you want. Then mama will get designer clothes!

Eating Blanket
It's been a while since I made a video - it's like I don't have time or something...
For the time being, here's the little guy eating his blanket:

Two Months
Today marks Liam's two-month birthday (though he'll be nine weeks tomorrow, so I don't know how that works...). We played in the afternoon after we picked him up from Aunty Lani's and I was happy to note that he continues to coo and babble and smile at us on occasion. Afterwards we gave him a bath, which he mostly seems to enjoy, and then I fed him for about an hour to the mind-numbing tune of pink noise since he decided he was going to celebrate by having a little meltdown. No problem, though. We're old hats at this--meltdown managed!
In the meantime, here is a little walk down first month lane...

This is the monkey shirt of doom with matching old man pants. It is a shirt of doom because in general, we put it on him and he promptly pees all over it.
Liam says, "Wha...?"
Here's a happy boy in the Year of the Rabbit t-shirt Aunty Cathy gave him. And yes, we had to coordinate with the yellow diaper before we took the picture. We couldn't commit a fashion faux pas with this guy--what would he say when he looked in the mirror?
Dad is wise and takes the opportunity to sleep when Liam sleeps. Obviously, Mom wasn't so smart, since she was taking pictures rather than sleeping.
Mom often takes the opportunity to re-fuel while Liam sleeps. Well, that and take pictures. But Dad took this one so he wasn't sleeping this time, either!
Aunty Allison, who worked with me during Session this year, got Liam this cute bee outfit as a gift. Since it's been so hot, he hasn't really had an opportunity to wear the hat, but we put it on him anyway to take pictures. Here he is backstage getting ready. We have a bee blanket too, that we got from Aunty Charli and Uncle Robert, but forgot to include that in the picture. Perhaps another photo shoot is in order...
