The Tea Farm

One of the best things about living in Mo'ili'ili is that there are so many wonderful little shops and restaurants to walk to.  One rainy day, we decided to check out the tea shop (as opposed to the ubiquitous coffee shop) that opened up a few months ago.  I got a pot of lavender tea and Mikey snacked on some random pastry (I can't quite remember what it was).  Liam spent some time looking around, but then grew bored.  So he began his trek up Mt. Dad.

Trying to reach the summit.

But no!  Foiled by the Dad monster at the top!

Can we redirect that energy a little longer so Mama can enjoy her tea?

Whoa!  Watch where you're stepping there buddy!

Okay, maybe we'll just wander around...

Incidentally, they have several little bookshelves in the back where patrons can take a book or leave a book...or just sit and read while enjoying a tisane.  What a lovely little shop.

An Afternoon Visit

One day this past April (yes, we are still quite behind here.  sigh.) Grandma and Grandpa Bob stopped by for a visit.

Liam talked with Grandpa Bob about his new book...

...and Grandma introduced Liam to some awesome tunes.

Liam:  You have to go so soon?
Grandma and Grandpa:  Don't worry, we'll visit again soon!

Iolani Family Fair 2012

In April, we found some time to visit the Iolani Family Fair, as all good alumni should.  We went early in the morning so it wouldn't be too crowded or too hot.  Alas, our plans were foiled on both counts.  But we had a good time anyway.

Our first stop was the Gourmet Booth, hosted, as always, by the Class of '91.

Liam clutched his sheet of scrip while hanging with Aunty Cheryl.  Aunty gave mama and dad a nice little break so we could eat together...alone.  :)

Then it was time to feed Liam.  Dad looks happy, but Liam looks dazed.  Too...much...good...food...

Then we strolled the grounds.  Don't worry Liam!  Mama will keep that nasty dragon at bay while you and dad make a quick escape!  Well, after I take a picture of said dragon, that is.

Then we ended up back at the Gourmet Booth.  The Italian cream sodas were too good and mama had to have a second one.  Liam and Aunty Cheryl watched Aunty Ann announce the cooking demonstration.

Wow!  Wasn't that cool?!

Marching Into Spring

Continuing on our trend of clearing up the backlog of photos that are burning holes in our digital pockets, here are some highlights from March and April...

Liam cut his highchair teeth in March.  Here he is examining the qualities that make a spoon a spoon at Nordstrom Cafe.  Just after this, his experiments with the spoon as a percussion instrument commenced.

One of Mikey's classmates from Cal Tech and his family visited.  We took a quick photo in Shirokiya because we had so much fun at Cinnamon's for breakfast that we forgot to bring out the camera!

The Blackberry eclipsed Liam's frog friend as his favorite sleeping companion.

Liam watched the fountain at Kahala Mall while Mama and Dad grabbed a quick bite to eat during an afternoon outing.

Liam and Dad did a little light reading before work.

We had lunch with family and Liam enjoyed a delightful conversation with No Name Grandma.

And by the end of April, he had logged many hours playing in the play room (which, once upon a time, was our living room...)
