Howdy, City Boy!!

Aunty Lani's granddaughter invited us to her son Ridge's baby luau at Gunstock Ranch in Laie.  Wow, Laie is quite the drive from Town!  But the party was so much fun, the drive was completely worth it.  And we had a good time!  Well, I THINK city boy Liam had a good time...

It was a beautiful day at the Ranch.

We tried the petting zoo first, but Liam was unimpressed.

Then Dad helped him ride the big horse...

...but he wanted to be as far away from the beast's head as possible.  What IS this thing?!

The petting zoo again?  He's so not getting his hand soiled.  They were just manicured, after all...

Even the saddle swing was met with consternation.

The stationary saddle, now.  That had some potential.

And of course, walking on grass is nice.  So long as we have shoes on and the grass is not between our toes.

Posing for pictures with Aunty Jesse, Aunty Missy, and birthday boy Ridge is also acceptable.

We looked through the cool goody bag in the car on the way home...

...and then urban cowboy Liam succumbed to sleep.

The whole outdoors and roughing it can really take it out of you!  Liam must have been dreaming of his nice, dirt- and animal-free condo in the city.

Dishwasher

The other day, Liam was sick and it was hot (darn Kona winds!) so he was just wearing a diaper around the house. To keep him entertained, we introduced him to the dishwasher:

Magic Island

There's something about Magic Island.  Perhaps it's the fairly easy parking in a city that is notorious for its lack of.  Perhaps it's the calm water, like a giant warm swimming pool that gently rocks you to serenity.  Perhaps I just like the name.  Whatever it is, I enjoy going there and we haven't gone nearly enough lately.  But this past weekend, while I ate ramen at Goma Tei in peace (since Mikey took the antsy toddler to work out the excess energy, I saw a Facebook post from Cousin Aaron about a same day barbecue invitation to Magic Island.  I texted to see if they were still there and since they were, and we were right across the street, we decided to stop by.  Ah, the wonders of modern technology.

We had already eaten, so we just visited and I might have had a coco puff...

But as I was saying, we visited...

And fun was had by all.  Thanks Domingos for being so social and letting us join you!

Random Moments at Home

The dryer door provides endless hours of amusement.  He just needs us to facilitate.

A delightful afternoon in bed with the Economist for some light reading.

Practicing standing...and the piano.

Cheerio Man!

Who needs toys when you've got bottles?!

I've got my box.  Now open the door.

I know this thing comes off somehow...

Bubbles before bed!

Random Public Moments

Hmm...yes...banana...

I'ma take this chair with me!

I'm hiding!!

Yes, yes, this chair could work.

Don't worry babe.  I got this.

Rockin' the retro vibe at Wailana Coffee House.  Mmm...noodles...

Hangin' With Aunty Donna

In June, my Aunty Donna's work sent her to Hawaii on business.  Luckily for us, she had some down time as well!  She was the first of my family to visit me and the first to see Liam!

First Meeting.  The phone helped with the anxiety of meeting someone new.

Getting to know each other over mochi ice cream in Bubbies.  What better way to make friends?

Dinner at Zippy's can be kind of tiring.  But thanks for visiting Aunty Donna!!

My Gym

Since Liam doesn't have much room to move around or explore at home, we thought it would be fun to take him to My Gym, with the added benefit that he gets exposure to semi-structured environments.  We've had a lot of fun, first in the Tiny Tykes class and now in the Waddlers class.

Liam the maestro.  This is one of his favorite toys.  When the teachers start putting the toys out, he waits until he sees it and then makes a beeline.

First time in a swing.  It took him a while to warm up to it.  He enjoys it now, I swear!

Hmm...how similar is this xylophone to the piano?

Should I climb this?  'Cause I'm thinkin' I should!

Idiots.  I'm surrounded by idiots.

Walking the plank!!  Do you see my tummy?!

Here, little boy.  Let me show you how this is done.

Bubbles!!

Photo Booth

We played around with the Photo Booth app on the iPad a couple of days ago.  We used the thermal filter and the negative filter.  Here are the thermal pictures.  They were fun!  The negative one was just creepy.

Uhh...

Bored already...

At least I have Ug Da.

Waking Up

Yawn.  That was some dream.

Oh!  Mama with a camera.  I'm coming!  I'm coming!!

I'm here.

Kinda cute, yeah?

Pfft!!
